Dear digiKam fans and users, following the long stage of integrating a lots of work from students during the Summer of Code,
and after 2 years of intensive development, we are proud to announce the new digiKam 6.0.0.
Improvements and Fixes
The new major version 6.0.0 introduce these new features:
Full support of video files management working just like photos.
An integration of all import/export web-service tools in LightTable, Image editor and Showfoto.
Raw file decoding engine supporting new cameras.
Similarity data is now stored in a separate database file.
Simplified web-service authentication using OAuth protocol.
New tools to export to Pinterest, OneDrive and Box web-services.
The capability to re-organize the icon-view contents manually.
A huge factoring of source code has been done to reduce external dependencies again with the goal
to simplify application compilation, packaging and maintenance for the future.

first beta release
published in October, we are proud to announce the third and last beta of digiKam 6.0.0,
before the final release planed in February 2019.
Last main components updated
With the new upcoming 6.0.0 final release, we updated the code and all bundles with
last stable versions of Exiv2 0.27
and Libraw 0.19 shared libraries.

published in September, we are proud to announce the second beta of digiKam 6.0.0.
Exiv2 0.27 support
With this new release we are following the Exiv2 project which is in release
stage for their next stable release to 0.27 planed for December 2018. This
library is a main component of digiKam used to interact with file metadata, like
populating database contents, updating item textual information, or to handling
XMP side-car for read only files.

Following the release of 5.8.0 published in January,
the digiKam team is proud to announce the new release 5.9.0 of the digiKam Software Collection. In this last version of 5.x, we has focused all developements to close bugs.
Improvements and Fixes
Many small fixes has been commited over XMP sidecar support in this release but the most important works will be tested with next main release has these requires regression tests.
Mysql support has also recieve fixes about database schema migration which can introduce errors while converting old database files generated with digiKam 4.x.
After a somewhat prolonged hiatus (my move from Denmark to Germany and full-time job at SUSE Linux GmbH had something to do with this), a new revision of the digiKam Recipes book is ready for your reading pleasure. Continue reading…
Following the release of 5.7.0 published in September 2017,
the digiKam team is proud to announce the new release 5.8.0 of the digiKam Software Collection.
In this version a lot of work has happened behind the scenes and in fixing bugs as usual,
which does not mean there are no enhancements: a new tool to export collections to UPNP/DLNA compatible devices has been introduced.
Following the release of 5.6.0 published in June, the digiKam team is proud to announce the new release 5.7.0 of the digiKam Software Collection. In this version a lot of work has happened behind the scenes and in fixing bugs, which does not mean there is no enhancements: A new tool to create print layouts has been introduces, albums can now be exported by mail, support for Hugin 2017 was added and GPS traces are storable as KML.
