When it comes to tweaking photos, Levels is the most important weapon in digiKam’s arsenal. This tool lets you adjust brightness and contrast by specifying the location of complete black, complete white, and midtones in a histogram, which makes it a perfect tool for fixing under- and overexposed photos as well as improving the overall tonal range of a photo. digiKam 2.0 have been published in beta stage since 2 weeks. Stable 2.0 release is planed for may, with few beta versions to consolidate code with users feedback...
For each beta stage, i plan to include new digiKam and Showfoto splash-screens, and time has come to find the ideal photos to go with it. Now is your chance to join the ranks of the precious few who have had their artwork associated with a release of digiKam!
While digiKam doesn’t allow you to publish photos directly to a WordPress blog, you can work around this limitation. Enable the Post by Email feature on your WordPress blog, and you can use the SendImages Kipi plugin in digiKam to email photos directly to your blog. Continue to read
Just in time for this new year 2011, digiKam team is proud to announce the first digiKam Software Collection 2.0.0 beta release!
With 2.x, digiKam include now all shared libraries maintained by digiKam team plus kipi-plugins source code, as a software collection. The goal is to simplify packaging to reduce external dependencies.
Although digiKam can’t rival dedicated image manipulation applications like the GIMP, it does have several essential editing tools which can help you to turn plain photos into striking images. For example, using the Curves Adjustment tool, you can apply the cross-processing effect to a photo. Continue to read

This installer includes a copy of all the dependencies of digiKam and kipi-plugins including Qt 4.6.2, KDE 4.4.4, exiv2 0.21, libkdcraw 1.3.0, libraw 0.12.1, etc...
Unfortunately, this port of digiKam under windows is not yet as stable as the linux version.
digiKam works mostly fine under windows, but some features are still broken due to some bugs in the underlying KDE libraries.
