New digiKam User Documentation

Dear digiKam Fans and Users,
A new year brings new goals—and this year, we’re taking on a significant challenge: migrating the old digiKam documentation from the DocBook format to a modern, easier-to-maintain architecture.
After 20 years of using DocBook, we have transitioned to the Sphinx/ReStructuredText framework. This new system is not only more intuitive for documentation writers but also streamlines the entire process of creating and updating content.
What’s New?
- New Documentation Website: The updated content is now available on our dedicated documentation site.
- Internationalization: Thanks to the KDE translation teams, the documentation is fully internationalized for a global audience.
- Offline Access: An EPUB version is also available for offline use.
How Can You Help?
The new documentation is open for contributions! Whether you want to fix existing content or add new sections and chapters, your help is welcome. To get started, check out the dedicated Git repository, and don’t forget to read the README for all the technical details.
Thank you for your future support—we couldn’t do this without you!
Wishing you a happy and productive year ahead, The digiKam Team
